...Miss UTAH pageant 2010...

One of the coolest things for me this year was to attend the Miss Utah Pageant, but instead of participating in the pageant I got the chance to watch and enjoy it from the audience. Sitting there brought back so many unforgettable memories and new friendships that took place last year. Even though it felt weird sitting on the other side of the stage I still felt nervous, for the girls competing for the title of Miss Utah. But all in all they all did well and I praise them for their services as ambassadors of the Childrens Miracle Network, their confidence and their time they put into preparing for this week... Like the now reigning Miss Tonga Utah said "Whoever said pageants were easy is a liar!!" LOL it's far more then just make up and big hair... I gotta give it to these pageant girls....especially Eleni Toluta'u the reigning Miss Tonga Utah that I had crowned last year. Let me give you a little run down as to how Miss Utah distinguishes what group performs what night. Prior to the competition the girls pick numbers to see which of the 3 groups they will be competing in as well as who their roomate is. Then from there they have activities that bring the girls to get to know each other a little before competition. Which I think is a great thing because by the time competition comes you're pretty much comfortable with your group as well as your roomate. For me it definitely made my week at Miss Utah a lot more comforting and at ease to already know my roomate. I'm lucky I had the roomate I did have.

Miss Utah is a four day competition filled with tons of things to do. From the annual "Show Me Your Shoe" competition, where each girl designs a shoe that represents themselves and the title in which they hold. It gets pretty out of hand with the shoes. Lst year I remember thinking "Wow... I wish I was that creative sheesh..." lol to the current Miss Utahs Pajama Party and then the actual competition itself. The Miss Utah Organization works pretty hard to make Miss Utah an amazing experience for each "queen" by  putting so much time and effort into everything from the PRE-pageant workshops, activities, must dos, production numbers, hotels, food, judges, and just the whole Miss Utah production. I've worked with some pretty amazing directors, coaches, and even title holders that I just adore and learn so much from. I LOVED my MISS UTAH experience, it was definitely something I would love to do again before I'm too old or married.

This year was really fun though, my family as well as the NTAS (National Tongan American Society) and I  went the first night of competition which happend to be Elenis talent night. Lucky for me my old roomate Arial was also in Elenis group so I got to see both of them perform. And I will tell you they rocked that stage. I was so proud of them!! =) I'm glad I had the opportunity to go and support Eleni with this experience, I sure hope she learned as much as I did last year. Although Eleni represented our Tongan community as her title was Miss Tonga Utah, every Polynesian should be proud of this girl. She represented us so well and her sweet spirit sure as heck left long lasting memories with those associated with Miss Utah and the Miss America Organizations.

Thank you leni for reigning so well and opening even more doors to our Polynesian women and women in general..... and most of all thank you NTAS for giving us the opportunity to share this experience!! =)

especially on stage... that's not the case this time.

This time it's my computer. It caught some virus (even with having and ANTI-VIRUS program on it) and so a bunch of things I can't wait to blog and post pictures about (Miss Utah, The NBA Championship 2010, and Fathers Day...etc..etc..) are all on HOLD!!!!  Dag nabbit.. haha Just as I was getting a hang of blogging my computer crashes.

It's all good though.... I've learned that Patience is A Virtue. So bare with me as I wait for my computer guy to fix it. :) This is just an excuse blog so when I do post em LATE...... you'll know why!! haha

...beauty is PAIN....

A famous phrase i often hear, especially during preparation for pageants...

Here at work that phrase pretty much applies as far as picking the right shoes. I mean not that I already have a shoe fettish as it is haha. However here at work it's a bit different in a cool way because I have a LEGIT reason to get new black shoes all the time even though it's NOT because I like to buy black shoes but because every pair of black shoes I do purchase, never seems to do the job regardless of what area I work in that day. I can't seem to find the right shoes. My shoes are either super cute and totally kill me after 2 hours...

or they're super comfortable and are hidious, you'd never find me wearing those black loafers anywhere....it is depressing.

I mean Michael Jackson rocked the loafers better than anyone I know but he wasn't stuck in a Delta uniform LOL....

I will admit that we have some pretty decent looking uniforms and I don't mind rockin' it when I'm out in public after work or so. But it's a bit hard to keep the uniform cute and sassy. Once in a while I like to try and change it up here and there (like anyone even notices right? haha) but it's a bit challenging when everything looks alike. I've come to realize that it's okay to wear the black ugly loafers (that i've had since I started here and are still the most comfortable shoes I have for work) when I wear my long dark trousers. However... when I wear my skirts and dresses- that's definitely a NO! NO! lol.... And with it being summer (today making it official) I am in need of NEW BLACK COMFY work shoes... preferrably heels with a little help of Dr. Scholls. ;)

If ANYONE has any ideas... let me know, until then... wish me luck!!

Once upon a time 5 years ago....

this same month I had graduated from the BEST High School on earth. Cottonwood High School, Class of 2005! I can hardly believe it...has it really been 5 years already?? Time sure flies when so much is going on.

This year as we attended many high school and college graduations

(ya don't believe me check out my bulletin)

it made me realize even more how time waits for no one. That sucks sometimes. I reflected back on my life and what I've been doing with myself. Boy was it a wave of mixed emotions. I found myself

**happy at how I've grown in many ways (growing in my jeans and dress size doesn't count lol)

**sad for losing some people in my life to death or to poor decision making.

**proud to be a former Miss Tonga Utah and to have participated in Miss Utah!! It made me look at life in a whole different perspective, I learned so much from that particular experience.... i loved it!!

**mad I haven't gone back to school since 2007 =(

YET

**still smiling at the great friendships I've established

and laughing at myself and all the silly memories I've made in the past 5 years.

I plan on staying happy by keeping a positive attitude through whatever may come my way!! =)

I'm going to make myself PROUD that I will be back in school. (by THIS fall)

I'm not planning on being sad or upset at anything, although those always come 'in the moment' and then I'm over it... so not to worried about the negative.
I will try my hardest to keep this updated because in the end, whether anyone reads it or not... it's all for my benefit and future childrens benefit....
I just hope that I won't be idle with my time and waste time [when] I did like the past 5 years... ughh...

On a higher note

....I love life and everyone in it....

BTW- congrats to ALL the graduates of 2010, I can't believe half these kids are this old.... man I'm getting older and definitely wiser. ;p haha
