[ scripture power ]

New goals ring in with the new year. Like I said in a previous post, I don't like to wait 'til New Years to make new goals, I figure if you're wanting to change something....change it now, DO IT NOW, why wait? I still believe that, but... I figured with it being a new year and one I think that will take me on a whole different level spiritually, I wanted to read the Book of Mormon again, so I made it a goal for this year. I brought it up to Shawn in a convo we had discussing goals and he thought it'd be a fantastic idea to do it..... this time, as a couple. =) I myself have been strengthened in my own life reading it on my own, but never have I tried it with another person....let alone in a relationship....in OUR relationship. It's come up many times in conversations, but actually going through with it... hah- didn't happen.

Through out our relationship last year we were so lost w/stupid decisions we made. I felt we needed to return back to church; meaning returning to 'basics'...daily prayers, personal prayers, scripture reading, church attendance, etc.... And oh boy did we struggle. lol. Something I was so use to {daily prayers} all of sudden seemed impossible for me to do and the things I wasn't use to {the "partying" scene} became all too familiar. {insert GUILTY face}. Getting back to daily personal prayers were hard for me, but with much discipline I managed to get back into the hang of it (with the help of silently catching my mom and sister on their knees in their rooms :) ). Crazy thing about it is that soon after I had gotten into the hang of things with simply turning to prayer Shawn ended up receiving a football scholarship, he was more focused on school and as an athlete. BOOYAH! haha... and it's been great since then ;) lol and I myself found myself overflowing with opportunities from left to right. {so I guess I should stop complaining about 2011?? ;p }

Since the new year started, we decided we'd start reading the BOM together. I know he struggles a bit w/reading scriptures. he always said how they always make him fall asleep....I myself am guilty at that too, but that's when I'm not in the mood to read, or claim I have something bettter to do. haha
Anyway- we started reading this year, and to my surprise this guy has totally passed me in reading. I seriously was caught off guard when he started asking me questions. haha Not because I didn't know the answer but because I thought he was lying about reading. lol So far he's learned a lot- it's so cute to see. Sounds funny, but he NEVER knew about Lehi and Nephi and their journey through the wilderness. 1Nephi was very interesting to him. I text him one time I was bored...he didn't reply, so I called, he answered and told me I was interrupting a good part he was on (when they return to get the brass plates from Laban). lol... I didn't want him to lose interest so I left him alone. But I thought it was so funny.

In general, we've received the most amazing blessings as a couple . We aren't perfect, in fact, we are faaaaar from perfect. We have our arguments and disagreements here and there. I blow up sometimes for nothing and he acts like a little kid sometimes just to get on my nerves ;) lol BUT....haha all in all this scripture reading together has strengthened us in tremedous ways. In ways I would never even think we needed improvement in. We actually meet eye to eye on a lot more decisions, we're open minded to different situations, we laugh more, our bond has been strengthened, putting the other persons needs first has become more of a priority, it's easier to CTR,  and we have become closer and more focusd on our "main" goal ;) haha Still not perfect but It's been lovely! We're reading, getting it done sloooowly but surely. Through the past six years we've been together this has been the biggest change thus far and I LOVE IT!!
#winnin!

[ when life throws you Lemons }

...make lemonade? I'd probably say, "hell, chuck those lemons right back at life!"  lol... but since it's 2012 and my ultimate goal is to become a better person than I was last year, including living healthier and fit. So I guess that means I'm not gonna chuck lemons back at life, instead.... I'm gonna start my days off with them. =)

WHY STARTING YOUR DAY OF W/WATER & LEMONS IS GOOD FOR YOU:

Lemons are a natural, effective, and inexpensive means to help your body detox on an ongoing basis. Starting the day with a large glass of filtered water with half or a whole lemon squeezed in is wonderful for the body. After a night’s sleep, your body needs to rehydrate, and the added lemon really aids the cleansing process first thing in the morning. Here are 7 reasons why drinking water with lemon (really at any point in the day) is such a great habit to get into:
1. Detoxifying, especially for the liver
  • Water helps the body to flush out toxins; the addition of lemon juice amplifies that effect. Lemons act as a diurectic and increase the body’s rate of urination, thus expelling toxins in the body more often and more quickly.
2. Improves digestion
  • Lemon juice encourages the liver to produce bile, an acid needed for digestion. In so doing, it helps the body digest more efficiently and reduces heartburn and constipation.
3. Boosts the immune system
  • Lemons are high in Vitamin C, high in enzymes, and contain antioxidant and anti-cancer properties.
4. Improves the appearance of the skin
  • Lemons are high in Vitamin C, and Vitamin C counters the effects of sun exposure, smoke, and pollution by reducing the damage caused by free radicals. Vitamin C helps skin maintain a youthful appearance by preserving its collagen and elastin.
5. Promotes a healthy pH
  • Though acidic outside the body, lemons are very alkaline-forming within the body. Drinking lemon juice reduces the body’s overall acidity.
6. Helps respiratory problems
  • Warm lemon water can relieve coughing and even chest infections, and it can be very helpful for people with asthma and allergies.
7. Water with lemon tastes super nice
  • For many people who struggle to drink half their body weight in ounces of water per day, they tend to have an easier time with the addition of some water with lemon. The change in flavor is refreshing.
Try to practice drinking water with lemon each morning, and aim to have the juice of at least 1 lemon per day (in water, in cooking, or however else you feel inclined).

So, there ya have it! =) Cheers to  ya water and lemon drinkers... =)

[ love these.... ]

It's Sunday.
I just woke up from my Sunday nap (@ 9pm).
Had a long (5 nights) of singing so my throat is sore. =(
I'm lazy.
I have a toothache.
Don't want to get ready to go to club T w/everyone else that's here for conference. haha
Although General Conference was lovely, my notes are all kinda scattered so once they're organized I'll be posting another blog. So stay tuned. haha
Ready to fall back asleep because I don't want to eat late
.....so.....
what better way to spend my time than blogging?! haha

Here's just a few things I absolutely adore. =)

RED LIPSTICK & NUDE SHOES
Red lipstick was always a MUST for shows. While all the other girls would wipe theirs off as soon as our show was done, I always kept mine on....NO NOT BECAUSE I WAS CHEEKY, but because I had swag (back then...now i am just plain boring lol). Red lipstick always looks good on brown skin. I think it's very classy no matter what you wear... and that brings me to exactly why I love NUDE shoes, theyre miracle shoes. If you own a pair of nude shoes you know they go with eeeverything. They also longate my short little legs....

False Eyelashes......they're fun.
And during shows I don't have to put on as much eye shadow.
I totally dig bold eyeshadows right now.
Anyone down for a make up party??? ;)

Small skinny belts....make my gigantic waiste look smaller.
I love simple outfits.

2 facts: Greens my favorite color & I love shoes.
No doubt about loving shoes, but lately I've had a
'green' shoe fettish. Maybe I should get green boots for fall????

Besides being in love (and refusing to use any other as my main make up) with MAC,
I love everything PINK that they make.
My last pink blush (from the Wonder Woman Collection) I bought is so much fun for blush and eyeshadow.
Funny thing is, I don't even like to wear pink. I'd much rather wear any other color, but lately I've been wearing PINK lipgloss and blush. Doesn't look as good as red, but it's so sassy and actually looks good in pictures {for me lol}.

Eating healthy is actually more fun than I thought. My mom ran a little babysitting thing out of our house when we were younger so we always ate nutritous meals. As I got older I totally slacked. Ate out more, ate more fatty foods, and over all...I completely just ATE MORE. haha... and the results in that {GETTING FAT} forced me to go back to eating healthy. hahaha...
Farmers Market's going on downtown and what's better than buying good FRESH food?! I've been trying to watch what I eat, and although I am guilty of giving in at times Ive been really trying to eat better.
I feel better when I eat better [or healthier].

Something kind of nerdy, but I actually like taking pictures for my blog. haha... I have a Nikon camera I got about 3 years ago and it's pretty good. But my cousin that moved in with us this past summer has a nicer one. I'm not a photographer or editor of any kind but I do like capturing 'the moment'.... especially the unplanned moments....and sharing them. So I've been using hers. Maybe when I get rich (keyword: WHEN lol) I will buy my own nice camera...til then my phone, my Nikon, and Ash's Nikon will have to do for my blog. hahaha

Do you believe in Magic?
haha...that was our theme for Miss Utah (when I ran back in 2009). I love Disney everything. I like Disney World much better than Disney Land though.... The last time I went to Disney World was back when I was 15 I think. I loved it, and I know when I return in 2 weeks for my beeeeautiful cousin Kaities wedding I will still love it. haha..
I'm so excited to go, hopefully I can take Pili and LaVona with me.

Last but not least..... I've been debating on what I want to do with my hair. I want to change it up. I've been keeping it black just because it's easy to care of, always looks healthy, and doesn't look to greasy if I haven't washed it for more than 2 days. I've always been safe with all black, however, I was thinking maybe do highlights again, but... I'm kinda over that. I don't wanna look like everyone else with their dark hair and highlights. Soooo poly...soooo boring! lol j/k so I thought maybe dark chocolate on bottom and lighter brown on top (kinda like Beyonces in her performance of Love On Top, announcing her pregnancy) but...changed my mind again because after wanting that it was like every girl I saw had that in already. ZzZZzzZzz.... right??? haha...
Well, I finally decided what I'm doing. talked to my hair gal and asked her if she could do it. What kinda question was that....of course she can.  So hopefully I can get this in before I leave to Florida...

It's different but I love it. I wanna keep my hair dark (get back to natural) but I do want some color in it.  And what better place to put em than the tips? haha Only because I'm a cheapo and am too lazy [and broke] to keep up with dying my roots. Lol...

Well there ya go... just a few things I just adore... what's yours?

Oh one more. Kinda weird because I AM NOT.....I repeat myself I AM NOT getting married anytime soon, but I've had this thing where I've just been browsing...looking...admiring... wedding dresses. Who does that when they're not even getting married?? lol... I've always liked looking at wedding dresses. I love white and I love dresses. But I've never actually looked and browsed for different wedding dresses. So here ya go... one of my 2 faves I've found online.

Aren't they beautiful?
I totally dig the mermaid dresses. Even though I'd like to lose weight and get more fit, I have come to accept my body. My mom always told us that if we wear fitted clothes that shows our figure that will help us stay small. Now if you see my sisters and I, we're far from 'small' hahaha but that's so true. I've always worn fitted clothes and that's probably why I love the mermaid style. I love women that can show off their figure.... (not outta pocket kinda showing their figure lol, but ya know what i mean)
And that's the reason why there will be no wedding anytime soon for me, as soon as I can pull off that look, I'll be ready. LOL j/k. I really like the styles of these dresses though. I mean of course mine will be modest ;) hahaha but i'm just sayin'. lol.

There ya have it....I'm done blabbering about things I love and adore lately.

[Move Your Body 2011]

You probably already know from previous posts that i heart to dance, any kind of dancing. I love the feeling of just letting loose and the sense of freedom it gives me to express myself.
Work outs that incorporate dancing is what I'm all about when it comes to exercising because I'm so not self motivated when it comes to working out. =( [SAD...i know lol].
I love ZUMBA and Hiva (tahitian class) but.....

My new favorite work out................................even though I'm already tired by the 2nd move. haha
is Beyonces "Move Your Body" 2011 video made for Michele Obamas obese campaign.
Beyonce is seriously is amazing, and so are all these kids in the video. My goal is to do this 4 minute and 18 seconds work out and reach the end with out being out of breath and my nostrils flaring like da heo...hahaha.
