[ scripture power ]

New goals ring in with the new year. Like I said in a previous post, I don't like to wait 'til New Years to make new goals, I figure if you're wanting to change something....change it now, DO IT NOW, why wait? I still believe that, but... I figured with it being a new year and one I think that will take me on a whole different level spiritually, I wanted to read the Book of Mormon again, so I made it a goal for this year. I brought it up to Shawn in a convo we had discussing goals and he thought it'd be a fantastic idea to do it..... this time, as a couple. =) I myself have been strengthened in my own life reading it on my own, but never have I tried it with another person....let alone in a relationship....in OUR relationship. It's come up many times in conversations, but actually going through with it... hah- didn't happen.

Osservare lì dove gli altri sanno solo vedere, ©
Through out our relationship last year we were so lost w/stupid decisions we made. I felt we needed to return back to church; meaning returning to 'basics'...daily prayers, personal prayers, scripture reading, church attendance, etc.... And oh boy did we struggle. lol. Something I was so use to {daily prayers} all of sudden seemed impossible for me to do and the things I wasn't use to {the "partying" scene} became all too familiar. {insert GUILTY face}. Getting back to daily personal prayers were hard for me, but with much discipline I managed to get back into the hang of it (with the help of silently catching my mom and sister on their knees in their rooms :) ). Crazy thing about it is that soon after I had gotten into the hang of things with simply turning to prayer Shawn ended up receiving a football scholarship, he was more focused on school and as an athlete. BOOYAH! haha... and it's been great since then ;) lol and I myself found myself overflowing with opportunities from left to right. {so I guess I should stop complaining about 2011?? ;p }

Since the new year started, we decided we'd start reading the BOM together. I know he struggles a bit w/reading scriptures. he always said how they always make him fall asleep....I myself am guilty at that too, but that's when I'm not in the mood to read, or claim I have something bettter to do. haha
Anyway- we started reading this year, and to my surprise this guy has totally passed me in reading. I seriously was caught off guard when he started asking me questions. haha Not because I didn't know the answer but because I thought he was lying about reading. lol So far he's learned a lot- it's so cute to see. Sounds funny, but he NEVER knew about Lehi and Nephi and their journey through the wilderness. 1Nephi was very interesting to him. I text him one time I was bored...he didn't reply, so I called, he answered and told me I was interrupting a good part he was on (when they return to get the brass plates from Laban). lol... I didn't want him to lose interest so I left him alone. But I thought it was so funny.

In general, we've received the most amazing blessings as a couple . We aren't perfect, in fact, we are faaaaar from perfect. We have our arguments and disagreements here and there. I blow up sometimes for nothing and he acts like a little kid sometimes just to get on my nerves ;) lol BUT....haha all in all this scripture reading together has strengthened us in tremedous ways. In ways I would never even think we needed improvement in. We actually meet eye to eye on a lot more decisions, we're open minded to different situations, we laugh more, our bond has been strengthened, putting the other persons needs first has become more of a priority, it's easier to CTR,  and we have become closer and more focusd on our "main" goal ;) haha Still not perfect but It's been lovely! We're reading, getting it done sloooowly but surely. Through the past six years we've been together this has been the biggest change thus far and I LOVE IT!!
#winnin!

"Scripture power, keeps me safe from sin. Scripture power is the power to win. Scripture power, every day I need, the power that I get each time I read..."

[ behind the scenes ]

Sega:
Hi just sent u an article on shawn that I was proud to read. ;)

I opened my email and there was this article.

Asiata Leaves His Mark

Utah's bruising fullback Shawn Asiata will indelibly leave his mark on the Utah football program. Not as younger brother to former Ute running back Matt Asiata, who left his own mark, but as a prime example of sacrifice, leading by example, hard work, being accountable, and maybe for his pure love of the game.

"Shawn loves to play football, and he plays that way. He leads by example and he's not a big rah-rah guy who flies under the radar a little bit. I don't think he'd like the attention, and he likes to do his thing kind of behind the scenes," praised head coach Kyle Whittingham. "But the players watch him. He's a walk-on who earned a scholarship and that's something that is respected on this team. He did it with a great work ethic and a fearlessness that is, admirable."

Case in point as Asiata has earned the respect of dynamic newcomer John White.

"Being new to the program, you look for certain stuff like, who does his job right on every play, who's working hard. You want to follow a guy who's doing things right, not the guy who keeps messing up," said Ute running back John White. "Shawn, he's a guy you want to follow, because that's the guy who's doing his job, doing things correctly on every play. He just does everything right, on and off the field, and that's a leader."

Asiata will leave his mark in that way, intangibly, but literally, he is sure to leave a mark after laying the wood on anyone who dares line up opposite him.

"When you see a defender duck out of his way, it's for a reason. He hits ... hard. I mean, he's one of the hardest hitters I've ever been around," continued White in his assessment of Asiata. "He brings it to people, he'll fly out there at you, you know. He's a fullback. He's the Lorenzo Neal of Utah."

In fact, Asiata may be the toughest Ute whose name most don't know. As Ute backs run through gaping holes for touchdowns, high-profile statistics and glory, most don't look closely enough to realize that it was Asiata knocking would-be tacklers out of the way for his running back.

"He's my blocking, and the guy I run behind. So he's a big part of me," said White of Asiata. "I mean, I'm the king, but he's the ace. He's bigger than me, nothing happens without him."

It's not only White who appreciates Asiata's presence on the field for the Utes.

"Shawn is an integral part of our offense. And he is tough, and when he hits you, you know it. Shawn thrives on contact, which is what you look for out of your fullback," Whittingham acknowledged. "This is a guy who loves contact, and at 260 pounds, he's a prototypical fullback who brings physicality and toughness to this offense."

Even in practice, Asiata goes full out, and most days can be seen leaving practice with a bloody jersey, gashes and literal chunks of skin missing from his face; evidence of the intensity and carnage left over from that day's battle.

"Shawn is a true fullback. He has that mentality, and there is a certain personality to that. He isn't going to tell you what he's about, he shows you what he is about," said running backs coach Dave Schramm. "That's the most important thing. He does the work, no complaints, no talk. He comes out on a daily basis and leaves it all out on the field. He gives everything to this team."

It's no coincidence that Schramm has high praise for Asiata, as the two have formed an extremely close bond since Asiata's arrival at Utah.

Asiata left the Utes after the 2010 season due to frustration related to multiple knee injuries as well as financial worries. As a result, he missed spring ball, but would ultimately come back to the team in time for fall camp. Asiata credits the support of, and relationship with, Coach Schramm for his return to football.

"Coach Schramm always had my back from day one. He's the only one I trusted here with everything. He kept on top of me, saying he supported me whether I came back, or not. It was big for me at the time," recalled Asiata of Schramm's support. "He was always calling me and checking up on me and making sure I was good. He made sure I was going to class and doing rehab, and everything."

Another issue that had Asiata contemplating giving up football was money, something that has since been resolved.

"I wasn't on scholarship at the time, so that was hard for me, " said Asiata. "I just got on scholarship and it's a blessing, so it's good for me now."

From the Utes' perspective, the welcome mat was permanently left out.

"The door here for Shawn was always open. He had some things to work out, but he was a guy that we felt we needed," Whittingham said. "We hoped to get him back, and now that he is, we're very fortunate."

Asiata's total statistics for his career at Utah consist of 6 receptions for 32 yards and one touchdown. Also to his credit is a 10 yard kick return against San Diego State in 2010, and one career tackle.

By it's very definition, at least in the Utah football program, the fullback is destined for statistics like these. What they indicate is a different type of role and therefore, a different level of character in order to accept the role wholeheartedly, then excel at it as he has in his short time at Utah.

"Knowing the type of guy that he is, and what he does on the field makes me feel more comfortable doing my assignment. I can depend on him whatever play we have called, that he's going to do his job or make the play," said said offensive lineman and roommate Jeremiah Tofaeono of his close friend. "I'm pretty sure all the guys on the offensive line feel that way about him. You just feel comfortable with Shawn back there, because you know he'll get it done. He'll do his job, and he might even do yours if you don't do it right."

When looking to label, or attempt to define Asiata's time with Utah, closer examination reveals that his legacy is not one defined by martyrdom or the unsung hero persona, but rather that he did his job. It wasn't the highest-profile, glory-hogging role, but an important one no less. And Asiata played his role to the best of his ability, and beyond even. Every down, every day. No fanfare, no drama. End of story.

"I think it's good that Shawn isn't hyped up like that. He's not that type of person that likes the hype. He doesn't talk too much, he just lets his performance do the talking for him,"
said Tofaeono. "He doesn't like attention, and he just shows leadership by what he does in practice and on the field. That's how he communicates."

There have been a few moments in his career at Utah that he allowed himself to celebrate, and indulge in. Several came in one memorable game in 2010; a home contest against San Jose State. In that game, Asiata caught his sole touchdown pass, a 10-yard strike from Jordan Wynn, and later, blocking for his brother, Matt, for a 1-yard score.

"The touchdown was fun, but being on that field with my brother Matt was special. That was kind of the big moment, because it's what we worked for, and kind of waited for, I guess," confided Asiata. "We played together in high school, and I blocked for him then. But in college, at home in front of all the fans in my first year, it was special."

Asiata continued his recollections of the moment.

"It was cool. I remember when I ran in there [for that play] and [Matt] was like, 'this is it'. He was standing right behind me, and I just remember getting goose bumps hearing my brother telling me let's go, that this was it," Asiata said. "Next thing, we hiked the ball and I hit the person I was supposed to get. I just did my job, but it was definitely something I'll always remember."

The moment capped off a journey that was a long-time in the making, as unlikely timing had to have fallen perfectly in place in order to allow for the experience.

Older brother Matt suffered two different season-ending injuries while at Utah, resulting in a rare sixth season of eligibility thanks to a medical redshirt year granted by the NCAA. If not one, or the other of Matt's injuries, the two brothers would never have been on the field together.

Both Asiata brothers took circuitous routes through the junior college ranks prior to their one over-lapping season at Utah. Out of Salt Lake City's Hunter High School, Shawn was originally a Utah commit, but would later attend Ephraim's (Utah) Snow College due to academic issues.

At the time, Asiata says, his priorities weren't in the right place, and academics for him were an uphill battle.

"It was hard. School. School was the biggest challenge for me at the time, and my academics just weren't where they needed to be," Asiata admitted. "It was a really big struggle, but I had to do it, and I did. Now I'm about to graduate next semester. So it's something I'm proud of. Something big for me that I overcame."

After graduating from Snow, Asiata admits he had eyes for the team down South, Utah's hated rival, BYU.

"It wasn't anything except what I thought was better for me. It wasn't 'this team is better because of this, or I don't like that team because of that'," explained Asiata. "They ran a good offense for me, I felt. At Utah, they were running the spread, which isn't good for the fullback. Now I'm all good since Chow came with the pro offense, so I'm good now.

Ultimately however, the family ties held true and strong, and Asiata followed his brother to Utah.

"I made the right choice. This was definitely the right thing, the right place for me. I got to play with my brother, which was what we wanted," Asiata said. "Then just the team and the guys, and everything here has been good."

As Asiata prepares to move forward from his huge, extended family, his goal is to try his hand at the NFL, but is prepared with a backup plan if that doesn't pan out. Approaching graduation with a degree in sociology, Asiata seems as passionate about helping and working with kids as he is about football. Perhaps even more-so.

"I've already worked at facility, a treatment center where we help out at-risk kids. It's sad, they're kids and they're drug addicts, and alcoholics," said Asiata. "They've all got potential, they just need help. They need someone to help them believe that, so we talk to them and try to help them through that. I figure, there's a reason they're like that, they didn't choose it. So that's what I want to do."

The selflessness in career choice isn't surprising, considering the fact that Asiata has, from the moment he stepped on campus, done nothing but sacrifice for the good of the team, and play a low-key role so that others might succeed. The parallel is there, and Asiata's comments on the matter highlight what he's about, and what his mark will be after he is gone.

"Just playing for my brothers. Everyone here on my team is my brother so I go all out every play," he said of his teammates. "I just lay it all out for the brothers. What we have here is something you don't have anywhere else."

In the midst of one of the toughest stretches in recent football history, it is Asiata and others like him who talk of sacrifice for the common good, and family, who need to find a way to translate those words into something positive. Only time will tell whether or not that comes to fruition, but one thing is certain: if Asiata could do it, or will it for his Utah family, he would. And then he'd probably duck out, giving the credit to someone else as he did.

He didn't even say anything about it...haha 'cause he's just that kinda person. and yes he literally leaves that field w/chunks of his face missing. =( Glad he's getting a new helmet this week, so I hope UCLA is ready ;p haha...

...that's all...

[SURPRISE!!!]

Lets just say I'm glad this past weekend is over. Plenty of planning and stressing
went on the past two weeks but it was well worth it. I (along with the help of Matt, Tangi, & Sega) planned a surprise bbq for Shawn. Lucky for me his family was all for it so planning wasn't too much of a hassle. Shawn was so surprised it was so funny and soooooooooooo dang cute. ;) haha.. really though, it was. All the people that mattered most were there and it was just amazing. The food was delish and our entertainment {FATBOY}was the bomb.com. haha

After Shawn had made his 'rounds saying hi to everyone he came to me and whispered "Babe, this is my 1st birthday party, and I'm 23!" lol...I started laughing, like are you kidding me?? He wasn't even joking. I felt kinda bad (...only because I'm 24 {yes i'm older than him lol|}and my parents still have parties and get togethers for me =/ )....but actually really happy I got to celebrate his first birthday party with him. ;) hahaha...

It was a great turn out, I was so happy for him. My whole reason for throwing him this was because I'm so proud of him. He's actually come a LOOOOOOOOOONNNG {like how long was exaggerated? lol} way and is doing really good......crossing my fingers and hoping he keeps that up. ;) haha.... but yeah, I really think he deserved it. =)
He had a  blast.
After the bbq we cleaned up a little and ended our night at the Huka.

I truly am grateful for this guy. He's always such a big help and is always there for me when I need him the most. We've been through so so so so soooooooo much and thru it all he continues to love me unconditionally. Although we have so much in common we are so different in so many ways and that's what makes us.....us. He's everything I am not (even all the bad stuff lol j/k) I love the fact of being in love with this crazy headache of mine.
Happy Birthday #1

[PAC 12's gon' GET IT]

Now days I'm sleeping on less and less sleep because of how crazy life's been, but still, I am NOT complaining. With everything going on in my life the past few months I've realized how precious time is. Whether it's spending it with loved ones, working, going to school, doing projects, etc...etc.... it's precious.
So lately I have to really be cautious of how I spend MY time.

The reason why I even bring this up is because college football starts tomorrow and it's our first year in the Pac 12. Excited much? OOOOOOOHHHHHH YYYYEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSS....
Shawns been working really hard since he's been up at the U, but especially this last season, you have no idea. He walked on at the U because he wasn't fortunate enough to receive a scholarship =( (boo utah lol), even though I believe this boy of mine totally deserved one over some of the idiots that take their own scholarship for granted. Since footballs started this year he's been so die hard, it's kinda funny and cute at the same time. I'm just like "YOU GO BOOOYYY!!!"
I mean even though half the time I get confused in his football stories about what happened on the field that day, I'm always happy to hear em because of the excitment in his voice. I am though a bit embarassed to say it, but I haven't been very fair the past 6 years in attending his football games. It wasn't that I wasn't interested or didn't want him to play, but more so, I was busy myself. I was always traveling, working, in school, doin' music, and most importantly... I knew it'd drive my parents nuts if I went out to Snow every weekend for games. haha...
I knew he loved the sport and was very passionate about it. I totally supported him 100%, like he did with me and dancing (the reason I was always traveling). So it was a mutual understanding, but little did he know it was tough for me and I still haaated missing his games. =( So this year I have to make TIME for him....he doesn't know....but I promised myself that I'd try {KEYWORD: try} my hardest to make it to every one of his games [even the out of town ones] which I know may be impossible sometimes but I'm totally gonna try to make the effort to go. My ultimate goal though, is to make it to EVERY home game. Believe it or not, that's a big deal haha and he's gonna love it. hahaha...

Anywho......putting all the gayness aside, yesterday at practice he was awarded a scholarship. (him and my cousin Tauni, who tooootally deserves it too)  Words can't even express how happy I am for this guy. He totally deserves it with his hard work. I'm glad he's been very persistent in working hard on that field. He's always telling me how he really has to go out of his way to PROVE he wants to be there, and that all paid off yesterday, and I'm super super suuuuper happy for him. Not only that but I am thrilled to see what this year brings for our Utes. A lot of folks are doubting our boys, but NOT ME, especially after seeing their scrimmage. Besides the Mountain West (who I happen to still have mad love for, were totally overlooked on our talent, friggin' haters) wansn't bad at all. Our boys will rock this year......................and if they don't..... whatever I don't care, I'm still a die hard UTE!!!

I'm tired as heck right now, but I can't even sleep I'm too excited for tomorrow (while Shawns been knocked out for the past 3 hours) haha...

My guys been in my life for the past 6 years and so here are just 6 of a trillion, random reasons why he ROCKS.....
  • He carries my purse/bag in public.......even if he's made fun of. ;) lol (my daddy once said when you find a guy who will make a fool out of himself for you...you've found a good guy!)
  • He sends random "I LOVE YOU" texts.
  • He seriously has THE MOST patience with me.
  • He absolutely loooooves, respects, and cares for his mother!!!! (my mother reminds me that you will know how a man will treat you by the way he treats his mother and sisters, I scored, because he's so sweet to them.)
  • He's a Lakers and a Steelers fan!!
  • He laughs at all my jokes even when they aren't funny......at all. =D

The Cuuuuutest Thing....

aThe love between siblings is astonishing to me. The older I get the more I realize that and grow to love my siblings even more. When I see it in other siblings it's the most adorable thing. I love my siblings and I know I'd do anything for any of them. I know I'd have their back no matter what, but I'm not referring to myself, relatively because I know where I stand when it comes to my love for my own siblings, or perhaps, it's the other way around?? haha  I may joke around with them and push the right buttons to piss them off but it's all out of love right? Besides...I know....they know where I stand with them. =)

But like I said, I'm not referring to me and my siblings but to Shawn and his. Well, his relationship with his older brother Matt.....yesss the famous Matt Asiata ;).
Since I've known these two their relationship from day one was one that just amazed me. I knew Matt before I knew Shawn only because Matt was, at the time, dating his wife now, Tangi...who also happened to be like a sister to me. Small world huh? LOL After being introduced to Shawn there was no doubt they were best of friends that surprisingly even resembled each other........ Shawns much cuter though and has bigger muscles haha, but Tangi begs to differ. ;) lol...
After Shawn and I had begin 'talking' , whatever you want to call 'courting' when we were like 10 lol....
(na j/k, all I remember was I was still too young to have a boyfriend and I had not even planned on having one at the time lol) I was more aware of him and Matts relationship, and it was still very impressing. They pretty much shared identical interests from clothes, shoes, music, friends, sports, food, and even the undying love for Tongan girls ;) hahaha... As we got to that stage of being more 'serious' I was opened up even more to their brotherly love for one another. Just like all siblings, they had their differences but at the end of the day or even the end of the hour......like a couple........they kissed and made up (metaphorically speaking ;p) hahaha.

I knew they loved each other just like how I loved my sisters, that same bond, I could kind of relate to it, but it didn't quite feel the same because there's 7 years between my older sister and I, and then 6 years between my younger sister and I. So trying to relate to Shawn and Matts relationship of being just one year apart was not happening. I am a middle child and so NO ONE is close to me in age in my family.
It wasn't until both Shawn and Matt had moved out to Snow College for school and football that I saw it first hand....for the first time.
How do I put this...??
Something had happened with Shawn and an old friend of mine that had a crush on me before Shawn and I had ever happened......that friend wouldn't leave me alone so Shawn like any protective boyfriend would do, confronted him and eventually, not even needing to because we all knew Shawn could beat him up, called him out lol. Anyway, long story short...word got back to Matt and Matt (like any concerned older sibling) called me and asked me what was going on. I explained what had happened. After many attempts of trying to calm the situation, these were Matt's exact words to me:

"Leta, whether my brothers right or wrong in this, I got his back.....it's been us two since we were little and I'll throw down for him no matter what...."

Hmmm... First thing that came to mind was 1.) WOW... excuse me buff guy! Lol and  2.) WOW...that's rather astounding, whether or not Shawn was right or wrong Matt was gonna be by his side??? Pretty cool. A lot of older siblings would just slap the younger one for trynna act bad.. haha j/k
I mean I'm sure there are many brothers like that out there. Shoot, I'd do the same thing for my sisters, but if you know my sisters you know I'd never be in this particular situations. I just thought it was kinda cute how Matt had Shawns back regardless! ;)  Anyway, all that small drama ended up being nothing and things ended up cool.

Matt had moved back from Snow and was starting at the University of Utah. For me that. was. hell. because at least when Matt was out at Snow he could kind of watch over Shawn ya know, keep him on track? And anything Shawn would do  that he shouldn't have been doing, Tangi would tell me. hahaha
But Shawn was alone out there. =(  I had explained to him how I felt. I was in school here, working, and traveling nonstop doing shows at the time...just super busy with my own life but I had missed him so much. And after expressing how I felt almost every day Shawn ended up moving back to Salt Lake City after he finished up his semester. We had planned to just work on us and he'd just work. (not a smart idea to just leave school...oh how our young immature minds work lol) He worked....and man did I loooove that. lol... But then.... that came to and end {boooooo haha j/k} when Matt got hurt the second time at the U (i think that's right, I don't remember exactly which time). Shawn may kill me for this but it's all good.. ;) We had been talking about something, I don't even remember what it was but he asked me what I thought about him returning to school, and finishing school that way he could transfer to the U of U and walk on for football. (Let me just make one thing straight here, Shawn knew from day one that I supported him in football, I admired his love and effort he put forth for the sport but it wasn't the reason at all why I had fallen for him, why I was even interested in talking to him, and now, why I was deeply in love with him.) I thought him going back to school was the best thing I had heard in a looong time, as far as football,  I kind of questioned it. I asked him why football?? And his exact words between crying and talking were:

"Babe...I hate seeing my brother like this, he needs me out there on the field. If I was out there to block for him by his side, he wouldn't be hurt sitting in the hospital...."

okay, I cried too. ;( I had no more questions of him returning to play after that comment. I mean, seriously...would you? I couldn't even believe what I just witnessed, I was so taken by their relationship and love for one another. There are waaaay more examples that I could give of the different acts I've seen of the two's relationship as siblings, but these two particular are the ones that stuck out to me the most.

It's like when one's feeling a certain emotion the other is feeling the exact same way. Deep inside I appreciate it....like I said before I absolutely adore their relationship as brothers, it's the cutest thing. Coolest thing is nothing has changed from when I met the two.... Even to this day Matt constantly has Shawn's back and Shawn in return will do anything...and I mean anything for Matt and his little family or vice versa. Whatever it is though they have this remarkable undying.......unbelievable.......unselfish love for each other and it's something I want my sons to have as well. If anything, having that close bond through out the years has definitely strengthened them  in so many ways. It's always nice to see them leaning on each other for various things. Tangi and I have often talked and expressed our frustration with the two as far as them doing things for each other over us.... it's crazy but I can't complain, I wouldn't have it any other way. They put their girls where they belong yet manage to hold their own relationship and love each other as brothers to no end. =)

-sMooTh gUy-

Just as I landed in Salt Lake City and taxied into gate D2, I turned on my phone. Excited to see the sunshine that I had not seen for 4 days because of Minnesotas cruel weather. I turned on my phone and text my Shawn...

Me: I'm hooooome. FINALLY! this weather is beeeeautiful compared to Minnesota!!

Him: Not as beautiful as u baby =)

LOL... I was dying laughing. What a smooth guy huh? haha It's funny stuff like this that he says that makes me laugh.
And as cheesy as it sounds, it puts a smile on my face and makes me happy.

...Christmas...

This Christmas was a bit different. Actually it was really different. Like I said in my last Vegas post, I was celebrating Christmas in Vegas, because I knew I'd be working Christmas day. Well... I did. And it was great, because this Christmas (day) I was stuck at work AAAAALLLLLL day long. Normally, if I have to work Christmas I'll work half a day or half my shift and go home. Not this Christmas. It was so busy. I almost regretted picking up a shift for a friend that does have young kids because I was stuck at work AAAAALLLLL day long. Flights were full, delayed, and even cancelled. It was horrible, but I'm glad that many passengers still had the Christmas spirit.

I really missed my family this year. I missed out on opening gifts. I missed out on Christmas dinner (even though Shawn was so sweet to bring me and my coworkers dinner at work) I still would've loved to be home with the family. I missed out visiting with extended families. I missed out on playing games with the family.... ehhh I just missed it all. But for some reason being at work and helping others get out to be home with their loved ones really made it all worth it.

I really can't complain though because I scored some pretty cool things for Christmas. My new hot tools curling iron I've been waiting for someone else to buy me because mine broke; my lovely mother got it for me. Really cute COMFORTABLE 1/2 cowboy boots 1/2 biker boots. I got some rockin' cute clothes from my girlfriends. Perfumes, lotions, and all that usual stuff. a new steamer because I HATE when my uniform is wrinkled. and most importantly.... my New Years Eve dress I've been bugging Shawn about. lol....

Thank You Shawnta Claus!! =) haha

Christmas was fun and also really different this year. I'm grateful that every year, with the help of others, I'm reminded of the true meaning of Christmas. To remember the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ, our Redeemer. It's always great to give back during the holidays whether through service or through gifts. Next year, I need to be somewhere warm....maybe Miami or Orange County?!

okay...that's all.... lol

{bowl game}

shawWow, kinda feels like I haven't blogged for a while and it's only been a few days. haha...
Thats how crazy this week has been.
This week I had the chance to go to Vegas for the Maaco Bowl, where the Utes played against Boise State, I also had the chance to get some sweet sweet shopping done, so that was a bonus.

Okay I'm not sure if anyone else noticed but our offensive coordinator can pretty much just suck it. He switched the whole offense which really sucked, and we ended up losing due to our own mistakes.
Who does that??
Maybe I'm being bias or whatever but he really needs to open his eyes and play the people that NEED to be in. He's so annoying, I just wanna slap him. ;) LOL j/k
(kinda, not really haha)
oh well, it's all done so whatever, just needed to vent for a second.

Anyway,  that didn't bring the boys down too much, Vegas was still a blast. =) Sad, we left the Mountain West losing our last bowl game with them, but it's all good, like i said- that didn't get the boys down too much. lol. Lets say the Utes pretty much painted the city ;)

And once again, I was reminded of why I love Vegas! =)
Thank you big baller Charles for allowing Matt and his family to stay one extra night.

The Bellagio Christmas Village was the business.

(uhh that's why I'm the one always taking the pix...straight cut out the Polar Bears)
