[where did November go? ]

I seemed to have had a writers block in the month of November- NO, not because my life is boring, I just haven't felt like updating...................................... ;p

One thing that made me proud of myself in November was that I actually got my VT done at the beginning of the month rather than procrastinatin (like I do every month) to get it done. We visited our sisters and so glad we did. They're amazing and glad our message touched their lives. I love my girls and my partner to the max!!

I had a show in Memphis a few weeks into Nov. It was for some Hawaii Broadcasting show funded by PBS. It was pretty cool. Our hotels for shows are always really sweet. We got to stay at this town house owned by Peabody and it was so pretty & nice. Very vintage-ish...and slave-ish, but nice. Shawn and I had watched Paranormal Activity back in October. Now...I like scary movies, but movies like that and the Exorcist..... I can't do. I can't stand them. I hate enticing the evil spirit (only because its REAL) and I don't feel its smart (once again, only, because it's REAL). anyway, the master bedroom that Frankie and I stayed in was excactly like the one in Paranormal Activity. hahaha... so i was freaked out and refused to go to bed until Frankie was ready, and that alone took fooooorever. haha Anyway, show was fun. We only had to do 2 15 minute sets. One was a tahitian otea........can you say "OUT OF SHAPE!" my goodness I was dying to say the least. I hadn't danced forever before that show and I didn't even work out before the show even though I knew months ago I had it. So yeah...i pretty much died- and it felt good.

I got sick shortly after I returned from Memphis. Just as I was getting over being sick it hit the 23rd, which meant it was Tangi and Sias birthday (uh oh! NO SLEEP).

I was sure their husbands had things planned (since its their duty hah) so I had just planned on takin them to dinner or something. That night was also Finns concert. By the time the 23rd came around and I talked to the girls....they weren't up to do much (boring moms right? ;p). I'm not to sure what Sia ended up doing after I talked to her but I'm sure she did something w/her cute little boys and Dall. I headed over to Tangis where we just stayed in for the night. Turned out to be a really fun night w/just us girls (including Sega, Sina, Dawn, and Kim, and all the kids haha) Just doing hair (typical), make up for the little girls, listening to LOUD music, eating LOTS and LOTS of delicious fattening cake, pizza, etc...
We had a good time......so good- there are NO pictures. haha  But yeah...Happy Birthday to Tangiofameimoanalua Ioana Leinaala Atiga Asiata and Telesia Passionella Koloti Tupa. I love these ladies to no end, and so very grateful for the blessings they are in imy life....even though they get on my nerves at times. ;)

No sleep followed Tangiofas birthday night. I worked Thanksgiving morning. (BOOOO!) but lucky for me they sent me home early. =) Thanksgiving was sweeeeet! Once again, mom went all out and dinner was the bomb.com!!! We had everything from Turkey, glazed ham, ota, bbq meatballs, coconut shrimp, stuffing, lupulu, lu sipi, fa'alifu kalo and banana, chop suey, salads, variety of deserts, not to mention Ashleys first Chocolate Dobash cake. haha. I couldn't eat it because I was so full. So intoxicated [by food] I was sick. After we ate, I watched Lady Gaga's special on tv. Oh Em Gee.... she is amazing. I love her voice and her style. My thooughts of her being a freak a zoid all disappeared until I saw her pictures as a child....she was a weirdo back then to, so i guess being what we all call "normal" is actually NOT her comfort zone. it all works out for her though.... =)

During the month of November I became even more addicted to Pinterest and I seriously think i pin way too much....but who cares my followers like em. ;)

Shawn played his LAST game of college football at the University of Utah, November 25th. It was a bittersweet game; happy for his progression through the years and excited for what the future holds for him....whatever it may be, but also sad because the U's been nothing but wonderful to him. His coaches have been phenomenal, to say the least. I seriously LOVE EM and the whole Utah program!
Unfortunately we lost against Colorado (the WORST team in the Pac 12)...shame right? haha. and now we're playing in a "not so fun" bowl game. Seriously...who goes to El Paso for fun. I wish it was Vegas..... last years bowl game was sooooo the business. I would've loved to be there for the bowl game AND new years this year.

Okay, well I guess my life really isn't that exciting, but I do stay busy and enjoy the small moments and memories I do make. November was kind....the end of the month hurt like a mother- but glad I've got a great family that helped me get through it.

To be continued....

[ behind the scenes ]

Sega:
Hi just sent u an article on shawn that I was proud to read. ;)

I opened my email and there was this article.

Asiata Leaves His Mark

Utah's bruising fullback Shawn Asiata will indelibly leave his mark on the Utah football program. Not as younger brother to former Ute running back Matt Asiata, who left his own mark, but as a prime example of sacrifice, leading by example, hard work, being accountable, and maybe for his pure love of the game.

"Shawn loves to play football, and he plays that way. He leads by example and he's not a big rah-rah guy who flies under the radar a little bit. I don't think he'd like the attention, and he likes to do his thing kind of behind the scenes," praised head coach Kyle Whittingham. "But the players watch him. He's a walk-on who earned a scholarship and that's something that is respected on this team. He did it with a great work ethic and a fearlessness that is, admirable."

Case in point as Asiata has earned the respect of dynamic newcomer John White.

"Being new to the program, you look for certain stuff like, who does his job right on every play, who's working hard. You want to follow a guy who's doing things right, not the guy who keeps messing up," said Ute running back John White. "Shawn, he's a guy you want to follow, because that's the guy who's doing his job, doing things correctly on every play. He just does everything right, on and off the field, and that's a leader."

Asiata will leave his mark in that way, intangibly, but literally, he is sure to leave a mark after laying the wood on anyone who dares line up opposite him.

"When you see a defender duck out of his way, it's for a reason. He hits ... hard. I mean, he's one of the hardest hitters I've ever been around," continued White in his assessment of Asiata. "He brings it to people, he'll fly out there at you, you know. He's a fullback. He's the Lorenzo Neal of Utah."

In fact, Asiata may be the toughest Ute whose name most don't know. As Ute backs run through gaping holes for touchdowns, high-profile statistics and glory, most don't look closely enough to realize that it was Asiata knocking would-be tacklers out of the way for his running back.

"He's my blocking, and the guy I run behind. So he's a big part of me," said White of Asiata. "I mean, I'm the king, but he's the ace. He's bigger than me, nothing happens without him."

It's not only White who appreciates Asiata's presence on the field for the Utes.

"Shawn is an integral part of our offense. And he is tough, and when he hits you, you know it. Shawn thrives on contact, which is what you look for out of your fullback," Whittingham acknowledged. "This is a guy who loves contact, and at 260 pounds, he's a prototypical fullback who brings physicality and toughness to this offense."

Even in practice, Asiata goes full out, and most days can be seen leaving practice with a bloody jersey, gashes and literal chunks of skin missing from his face; evidence of the intensity and carnage left over from that day's battle.

"Shawn is a true fullback. He has that mentality, and there is a certain personality to that. He isn't going to tell you what he's about, he shows you what he is about," said running backs coach Dave Schramm. "That's the most important thing. He does the work, no complaints, no talk. He comes out on a daily basis and leaves it all out on the field. He gives everything to this team."

It's no coincidence that Schramm has high praise for Asiata, as the two have formed an extremely close bond since Asiata's arrival at Utah.

Asiata left the Utes after the 2010 season due to frustration related to multiple knee injuries as well as financial worries. As a result, he missed spring ball, but would ultimately come back to the team in time for fall camp. Asiata credits the support of, and relationship with, Coach Schramm for his return to football.

"Coach Schramm always had my back from day one. He's the only one I trusted here with everything. He kept on top of me, saying he supported me whether I came back, or not. It was big for me at the time," recalled Asiata of Schramm's support. "He was always calling me and checking up on me and making sure I was good. He made sure I was going to class and doing rehab, and everything."

Another issue that had Asiata contemplating giving up football was money, something that has since been resolved.

"I wasn't on scholarship at the time, so that was hard for me, " said Asiata. "I just got on scholarship and it's a blessing, so it's good for me now."

From the Utes' perspective, the welcome mat was permanently left out.

"The door here for Shawn was always open. He had some things to work out, but he was a guy that we felt we needed," Whittingham said. "We hoped to get him back, and now that he is, we're very fortunate."

Asiata's total statistics for his career at Utah consist of 6 receptions for 32 yards and one touchdown. Also to his credit is a 10 yard kick return against San Diego State in 2010, and one career tackle.

By it's very definition, at least in the Utah football program, the fullback is destined for statistics like these. What they indicate is a different type of role and therefore, a different level of character in order to accept the role wholeheartedly, then excel at it as he has in his short time at Utah.

"Knowing the type of guy that he is, and what he does on the field makes me feel more comfortable doing my assignment. I can depend on him whatever play we have called, that he's going to do his job or make the play," said said offensive lineman and roommate Jeremiah Tofaeono of his close friend. "I'm pretty sure all the guys on the offensive line feel that way about him. You just feel comfortable with Shawn back there, because you know he'll get it done. He'll do his job, and he might even do yours if you don't do it right."

When looking to label, or attempt to define Asiata's time with Utah, closer examination reveals that his legacy is not one defined by martyrdom or the unsung hero persona, but rather that he did his job. It wasn't the highest-profile, glory-hogging role, but an important one no less. And Asiata played his role to the best of his ability, and beyond even. Every down, every day. No fanfare, no drama. End of story.

"I think it's good that Shawn isn't hyped up like that. He's not that type of person that likes the hype. He doesn't talk too much, he just lets his performance do the talking for him,"
said Tofaeono. "He doesn't like attention, and he just shows leadership by what he does in practice and on the field. That's how he communicates."

There have been a few moments in his career at Utah that he allowed himself to celebrate, and indulge in. Several came in one memorable game in 2010; a home contest against San Jose State. In that game, Asiata caught his sole touchdown pass, a 10-yard strike from Jordan Wynn, and later, blocking for his brother, Matt, for a 1-yard score.

"The touchdown was fun, but being on that field with my brother Matt was special. That was kind of the big moment, because it's what we worked for, and kind of waited for, I guess," confided Asiata. "We played together in high school, and I blocked for him then. But in college, at home in front of all the fans in my first year, it was special."

Asiata continued his recollections of the moment.

"It was cool. I remember when I ran in there [for that play] and [Matt] was like, 'this is it'. He was standing right behind me, and I just remember getting goose bumps hearing my brother telling me let's go, that this was it," Asiata said. "Next thing, we hiked the ball and I hit the person I was supposed to get. I just did my job, but it was definitely something I'll always remember."

The moment capped off a journey that was a long-time in the making, as unlikely timing had to have fallen perfectly in place in order to allow for the experience.

Older brother Matt suffered two different season-ending injuries while at Utah, resulting in a rare sixth season of eligibility thanks to a medical redshirt year granted by the NCAA. If not one, or the other of Matt's injuries, the two brothers would never have been on the field together.

Both Asiata brothers took circuitous routes through the junior college ranks prior to their one over-lapping season at Utah. Out of Salt Lake City's Hunter High School, Shawn was originally a Utah commit, but would later attend Ephraim's (Utah) Snow College due to academic issues.

At the time, Asiata says, his priorities weren't in the right place, and academics for him were an uphill battle.

"It was hard. School. School was the biggest challenge for me at the time, and my academics just weren't where they needed to be," Asiata admitted. "It was a really big struggle, but I had to do it, and I did. Now I'm about to graduate next semester. So it's something I'm proud of. Something big for me that I overcame."

After graduating from Snow, Asiata admits he had eyes for the team down South, Utah's hated rival, BYU.

"It wasn't anything except what I thought was better for me. It wasn't 'this team is better because of this, or I don't like that team because of that'," explained Asiata. "They ran a good offense for me, I felt. At Utah, they were running the spread, which isn't good for the fullback. Now I'm all good since Chow came with the pro offense, so I'm good now.

Ultimately however, the family ties held true and strong, and Asiata followed his brother to Utah.

"I made the right choice. This was definitely the right thing, the right place for me. I got to play with my brother, which was what we wanted," Asiata said. "Then just the team and the guys, and everything here has been good."

As Asiata prepares to move forward from his huge, extended family, his goal is to try his hand at the NFL, but is prepared with a backup plan if that doesn't pan out. Approaching graduation with a degree in sociology, Asiata seems as passionate about helping and working with kids as he is about football. Perhaps even more-so.

"I've already worked at facility, a treatment center where we help out at-risk kids. It's sad, they're kids and they're drug addicts, and alcoholics," said Asiata. "They've all got potential, they just need help. They need someone to help them believe that, so we talk to them and try to help them through that. I figure, there's a reason they're like that, they didn't choose it. So that's what I want to do."

The selflessness in career choice isn't surprising, considering the fact that Asiata has, from the moment he stepped on campus, done nothing but sacrifice for the good of the team, and play a low-key role so that others might succeed. The parallel is there, and Asiata's comments on the matter highlight what he's about, and what his mark will be after he is gone.

"Just playing for my brothers. Everyone here on my team is my brother so I go all out every play," he said of his teammates. "I just lay it all out for the brothers. What we have here is something you don't have anywhere else."

In the midst of one of the toughest stretches in recent football history, it is Asiata and others like him who talk of sacrifice for the common good, and family, who need to find a way to translate those words into something positive. Only time will tell whether or not that comes to fruition, but one thing is certain: if Asiata could do it, or will it for his Utah family, he would. And then he'd probably duck out, giving the credit to someone else as he did.

He didn't even say anything about it...haha 'cause he's just that kinda person. and yes he literally leaves that field w/chunks of his face missing. =( Glad he's getting a new helmet this week, so I hope UCLA is ready ;p haha...

...that's all...

But yay for us this past weekend.
Everyone doubted our mighty Utes but we came through and beat the beavers.
did we celebrate after?? Yes...indeed- but too bad my camera died after the game. ;)

Final Score

Wasn't this the perfect way to welcome November and the holiday season??
Lets go Utes!

[ pushin' for the GOOD ]

Time sure flies. This week has come and has gone so quickly, I can't believe it. Thus far, it's been pretty good. Things get better by the days- thanks to much prayer and fasting. =)
My family thought we'd switch up our FHE (since most of em end up talking about shawn and I lol), so we headed to Little Cottonwood Canyon. Which in fact has such a special place in my heart now, knowing that 7 prophets have blessed it. Tons of Granite has come from Little Cottonwood Canyon in behalf of building temples. Awesome right??

If I had one word to describe that evening and nature all around us it'd definitely be
BEAUTIFUL!
The picture above was the pathway/road from our campsite. I can't get over the different fall colors. Just gorgeous. I love em.
So Jeffrey right? haha
Me and My Baby Name Sake =)
My FAVORITE guitarist
umm..don't know how to rotate this pic, so sorry you have to break your neck lookin at this. haha
.: blessed w/the best sisters :.

Being with just my family, I think is what I needed. It made me appreciate em more. Right behind our little campsite was a beautiful waterfall stream so of course like fobs we hopped on the rocks and took pictures. haha.. Set up the fire, roasted hot dogs, smores, hot chocolate, had our lesson, jammed, enjoyed each others company [with NO worries], and just appreciated what the good Lord's blessed us with. Being out in nature always reassures and denotes that there is living God and he's the creator of ALL things. =)

Tuesday, my gf Leah and I decided that we wanted to go to a haunted house- so we planned on going together, just us since we hadn't hung out in forever. (work doesn't count either... haha)
So before we left Shawn called that he had finished study hall early so he and another friend of ours joined us. Which was nice cuz then Leah and I didn't have to pay for ourselves. haha.. We went to Nightmare on 13th. It was aiiiight. I swear Shawn and Smoke were more scared than me and Leah. LOL. Ended our night at McDeez where they ALWAYS mess up our order....and called it a night.
Good, Clean Fun is always nice right?! =)

INSTITUTE....
....has been such a blessing since I began taking it (again). This time things are much clearer and make a lot more sense than 4 years ago. We're studying the New Testament and my teacher seriously is the BOMB.COM! I mean not that he is THE MOST  musically talented teacher I have EVER had, but he also arranges A LOT of the churches music. I'm just honored to know the guy.
I leave there every time w/a stronger testimony of Jesus Christ from His time on earth to his crucifiction than I did when I walked in. Institute truly edifies the soul and motivates me to want to do better. It's so easy to soak up all the teaching I hear at church, general conference, and even institute....but actually applying it to my life- now that's a struggle in itself. haha... but I'm getting better at the moment. Just grateful that institutes just one more thing that's PUSHIN' me to do better.

UTES

Cheered our Utes on verse Arizona State University.

it was a sore loss....but we still had fun while freezing our okoles off.

...win or lose, still love our boys...

Lastly,

Remember our GOTCHA game?
Well, after many attempts of my killer waiting outside of my house, [thinking] they were following me to work, and even being in my house waiting for me, they never killed me...instead he got killed. hahaha My guy/target (johnny mahe) goes to school out at Snow and I wasn't about to drive out there just to kill him, so he's still alive. LOL.
Last night, after the Utes game I got a text from my gf that my cousin Meti had me and was full on harassing her to find me....lol poor Mele! Glad she's always got my back. =). But now knowing that Meti had me (because he had killed 3 people the day before, had BAD written all over it. So I cautiously made my way home, shawn walked me in to make sure I didn't get killed (because he was small kine irritated w/the game but knew how big of a deal it was to me lol,)  and no one was secretly hiding in my bushes lol (ridiculous, I know), after realizing no one was home I called my sister to see where they were. When she told me she was at Dee's w/a friend, thinking of curly cheese fries totally distracted me and threw me off guard of the whole game and  I jumped in the car and went over {FAT, i know lol}.
Anyway, long story short- Meti and his "set up" crew coincidently drove by, saw my jacket and turned around to reassure it was me. I walked out....Meti got out of the car and I took off running. While we ran towards the on coming traffic on 4700 South I jumped back into the parking lot area and freakin biff'd it. Yes, as in ate the gravel. LOL I swear it was THE UGLIEST fall ever in the history of falls. And I'm pretty sure Hameti can attest to that lol... As Meti ran over to help me up- I begged him not to kill me. hahaha... I know, who does that?? Instead of worrying about killing me, he was making sure I was okay (what a gentleman right?..... even though I was still so mad he had caught me haha). I got up and he squirted me with his water...................................and I died. LOL.
I don't know what I was thinking trying to out run this rugby player cousin of mine. HAHA.. but hey- atleast I fought for my life right??? hahahaha...

The effects of me fighting for my life???

these pictures don't even do justice. I now have scratches and bruises up my arms and shoulders. Bandaged/bloody hands, scraped up....deep cuts on my knee, a ripped jacket, and messed up boots. I mean, not to mention that was my favorite jacket and favorite pair of boots for fall. lol... my gosh.  The thing that pissed me off the most was... I didn't even get to kill Johnny and I got killed. UGH- how annoying. All in all though, it was fun. Now I'll just be in pain for the next week and I'll have ugly scar marks on my knee.
But hey, at least I'll always remember the GOTCHA game- and the purpose of 'Always Being on Your Guard' in this crazy world. You never know who's out to get you [even your own cousins] and people you {THOUGHT} had your back. There are always those that are out to get you in any way, so being cautious in all situations is always a good thing. I am one who tends to let my guard down {especially when it comes to cheese fries ;)} and then I become gullible and I end up trusting everyone......not so good. haha I hate that I do that- because when I do get screwed over {or scraped up from shoulder to toes} I then REMEMBER, I should've known.  What a great reminder though, this game was.

Like I said earlier....this week has been a good one. Life's been fair, I love the people in it, so why not share it and blog about it right?! I'm ready for another week of pushin' for the GOOD!

Happy Monday bloggers

[So September....]

...has kinda been something like this....

I started my fall B.O.M. reading [again], with my ward this time.
We are to finish by December 24th as a gift to ourselves for Christmas. =)

I learned how to play the tongan drums @ the Friendly Islands Festival...I swear I have no rythm lol, but it was really fun. I even got a picture in the Salt Lake Tribune haha.. yay for me. ;)

I loved that our own Tongan Local Talent closed off the festival. Talk about having a big heart and giving back to the community. Smiling Souls, Teki, and Josh White. Not too many people were there but it was fun.

Finally was able to Skype with Fano.
We also received the best news....he's out of ICU. That's actually a huge deal with his situation. He's on the road to getting better and I can't wait until he's fully recovered.
Speaking of Fano, we have our fundraiser for him this Saturday if any of you would like to join in our Volleyball Tournament held at West Jordan Park on Sat (9/24). Hit me up for more details.

This past weekend I flew out to the bay for Jboogs Album Release Party that was held at the Mezzanine downtown. It was an awesome turn out. Talk about a packed house.... Can't wait to hear the rest of his album.
#SUPPORTPOLYMOVEMENT

Attended the Holy War (held at BYU). Let's just say BYU got JIMMER'd pretty bad. Did I feel bad one bit??? HEEEECK NO!! hahaha... only because the if it was the other way around BYU would NOT shut up about it, so i'm glad I get to at least brag about our victory til we meet again. ;) lol. it was a fun game for us of course. Can't wait til next year.

Last but not least.... this month is a special one. My bestest friend and sweet heart was born this month... Sept 24th!

I sure love this sweet guy and am constantly grateful for him and for all he's done for me. We grow daily and learn new things along the way. He's come a LONG way and I'm super happy for him. I hate going on and on on here with all that mushy lovey dovey stuff.... so i'll leave it at that....well until my next blog. ;) lol.
Love You Shawnee Boy!!!

[PAC 12's gon' GET IT]

Now days I'm sleeping on less and less sleep because of how crazy life's been, but still, I am NOT complaining. With everything going on in my life the past few months I've realized how precious time is. Whether it's spending it with loved ones, working, going to school, doing projects, etc...etc.... it's precious.
So lately I have to really be cautious of how I spend MY time.

The reason why I even bring this up is because college football starts tomorrow and it's our first year in the Pac 12. Excited much? OOOOOOOHHHHHH YYYYEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSS....
Shawns been working really hard since he's been up at the U, but especially this last season, you have no idea. He walked on at the U because he wasn't fortunate enough to receive a scholarship =( (boo utah lol), even though I believe this boy of mine totally deserved one over some of the idiots that take their own scholarship for granted. Since footballs started this year he's been so die hard, it's kinda funny and cute at the same time. I'm just like "YOU GO BOOOYYY!!!"
I mean even though half the time I get confused in his football stories about what happened on the field that day, I'm always happy to hear em because of the excitment in his voice. I am though a bit embarassed to say it, but I haven't been very fair the past 6 years in attending his football games. It wasn't that I wasn't interested or didn't want him to play, but more so, I was busy myself. I was always traveling, working, in school, doin' music, and most importantly... I knew it'd drive my parents nuts if I went out to Snow every weekend for games. haha...
I knew he loved the sport and was very passionate about it. I totally supported him 100%, like he did with me and dancing (the reason I was always traveling). So it was a mutual understanding, but little did he know it was tough for me and I still haaated missing his games. =( So this year I have to make TIME for him....he doesn't know....but I promised myself that I'd try {KEYWORD: try} my hardest to make it to every one of his games [even the out of town ones] which I know may be impossible sometimes but I'm totally gonna try to make the effort to go. My ultimate goal though, is to make it to EVERY home game. Believe it or not, that's a big deal haha and he's gonna love it. hahaha...

Anywho......putting all the gayness aside, yesterday at practice he was awarded a scholarship. (him and my cousin Tauni, who tooootally deserves it too)  Words can't even express how happy I am for this guy. He totally deserves it with his hard work. I'm glad he's been very persistent in working hard on that field. He's always telling me how he really has to go out of his way to PROVE he wants to be there, and that all paid off yesterday, and I'm super super suuuuper happy for him. Not only that but I am thrilled to see what this year brings for our Utes. A lot of folks are doubting our boys, but NOT ME, especially after seeing their scrimmage. Besides the Mountain West (who I happen to still have mad love for, were totally overlooked on our talent, friggin' haters) wansn't bad at all. Our boys will rock this year......................and if they don't..... whatever I don't care, I'm still a die hard UTE!!!

I'm tired as heck right now, but I can't even sleep I'm too excited for tomorrow (while Shawns been knocked out for the past 3 hours) haha...
