Every year the
Miss Utah Organization teams up with
Childrens Miracle Network (CMN). When I served as Miss Tonga Utah that automatically qualified me as a contestant of the Miss Utah Scholarship Pagaent that, entitled me as an ambassador for the CMN.As their duty each
queen (local pagaent winner) had the opportunity to raise money and hold their own fundraisers for CMN in behalf of the Miss Utah Scholarship Pagaent. It was a ton of fun working with the Childrens Miracle Network. After Miss Utah and working with CMN I feel I have this obligation to always support CMN in EEEEVVVERRYTHING. Teaming up with them inspired me so much and motivated me to serve more and to be more involved with the CMN. I love helping out the children, meeting goals as a team and serving them; it's always a tear jerker when seeing the joy you bring to a kid who's lost anything in that matter, as well as hearing their stories. =( But helping out in any way brings some sort of comfort, so that's good.
This past Thursday was CMN's
Torch Relay here in Salt Lake City. Delta put a team together and my bff/coworker Leah and I joined it. We were one of the first 100 to finish so the picture below is us and our medals we got.
I mean, it wasn't a race or anything but receiving those medals sure as heck made it feel like we won a race. lol.. The walk started at 11:00am which meant we were suppose to be there at 10:00am. We got there a little late and couldn't find our team in our designated spot, but when we did find them.... they were all in orange vests.....volunteering. haha... About 10 of the CMN's volunteers didn't show up. Our team was one of the first to arrive so of course our boss volunteered our team to help out with registration, directing the walkers, and passing out shirts, bags, and coupons. I'm glad we got to help out.
It was a 5K so it wasn't bad at all. Everyone was pumped the whole time and the cars that passed, the businesses we passed were cheering us all on. I'm excited for the next CMN event going on, I'm sure Delta will have a team so if you'd like to join let me know!! =)
Here are a few photos from the Torch Relay.
