My 2 favorite things about the month of October are:
1.) Halloween [of course]
and
2.) celebrating Breast Cancer Month!!
One in every eight women in the U.S. will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime -- that's one every three minutes..... =( Breast cancer is a devastating disease, for me, it hits home because it runs pretty strong on my fathers side. A few of my aunts and even my grandmother have it. I've seen my grandmothers health decrease big time because of breast cancer (and diabetes) so like many that have been effected by this horrible disease, I'm always stoked to celebrate the awareness, education, and empowerment of breast cancer that this particular month brings!!!
YAY for celebrating 25 years of awareness this month. It's even more cool that my work supports it big time. The whole month of October is dedicated to the awareness of breast cancer. We have a breast cancer shop in the flight attendants lounge that sell Delta breast cancer shirts, key chains, pens, and a bunch of other things we can use for work. Every weekend employees pay $5 to dress down and wear jeans and the breast cancer shirts. All those proceeds go towards the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
I'm grateful that we're able to celebrate breast cancer awareness this month and remember those that have lost the battle, that are still fighting, but especially the survivors!!!
