One of the many fun things I enjoy about being tongan is that we have pretty fun funerals. Weird?? Yes, it is. haha.. but, we do. Well I do... and I thank the gospel for that. I love the knowledge and understanding that comes with being a member of the LDS faith, most importantly because it makes death bearable. It makes it so that when you lose someone in this life you actually have the next life to look forward to because you'll be seeing them again. =) =) I LOVE THAT! So that's probably why tongan funerals (well in my family that is) end up being so much fun, despite losing that particular loved one in this life. =/ Funerals are always like the reunions we never want..... ya know?? For me I look forward to seeing old friends or family members you haven't seen forever, I enjoy a trip down memory lane, and helping out with feaus/pu'is during the funeral whether it be in the kitchen, cleaning, or greeting those who have come from far to pay their respect.
Well this past week I was able to fly down to Oakland for a my grand aunt Nita Moas funeral. Although it's sad to see know she won't be around anymore, it was great to see all those who spoke and shared kind words about his sweet lady. The ceremony was beautiful and it was so nice to see family there.
I took Pili with me and we met my mom and aunties down in Oakland. This kid had me laughing the whole time at the burial....he's so crazy.... see!! I especially loved this trip because I got to hang out with my family I rarely get to see because they're from the bay area and Seattle. One in particular was my Aunty Lusi. She's seriously like my moms twin. They talk every single day and have stories for days from growing up together to life on the road dancing to being grandmas and loving every second of it now. Aunty Lusi is such a diva and never ceases to make and keep those in her company crackin' up. No wonder my mother and all my aunts just adore her so much.
I loved this past trip to the bay. Being a from such a wonderful family is seriously 'THEE' best blessing. =)
So true, and you explained it so well!! hahaha Love reading your blog, you're so well spoken!
