Remember when I was looking for some 80's ideas?? Well this is the reunion it was for...
This reunion was my mothers fathers side...his siblings, their kids, and their kids, and their kids.. lol. The family here in Utah hosted this year. The thing I love about this particular reunion when we host is that we meet occasionally through out the year so it keeps the reunion pretty organized and all together. Plus we become closer as a family which is great because that's what reunions are all about anyway right....??
Anyhow...here are some photos through out the reunion. I didn't have my camera on me most of the reunion but I did try and capture a few photos of everyone. The first night (thursday) was the opening night which was just registration, where we sign up and get name tags....
.... split into the teams you'll be with all weekend, light dinner, Family Reunion shirts were distributed, and a few trivia games about our ancestors.
Yeah this team [above] cheated... lol |
....just SOME of the committee.... |
This night was out in Bountiful and turned out to be quite a success with it being the first night. The Ancestor Trivia games turned out to be super fun. We had our own version of Jeopardy that turned out to be nothing like Jeopardy because everyone was being so loud and obnoxious about winning, it was hilarious how every single person there THOUGHT they knew the answers. haha.. It was nice though because it kept the hype up for everyone to return the next day...
Friday:
I'm not sure if I've mentioned it in prior posts but I come from a pretty strong foundation when it comes to the gospel on my mothers side. I'm blessed to have both sides very strong and have few non members in em. This side I think has no one that's a non member...if not, then they haven't been to the reunion yet lol... Anyhow, the reason I bring that up is because it's great to be able to have a whole day of the reunion dedicated to focusing on eternal families and strengthening our own personal testimonies. Friday was that day. We started off with a light breakfast (as you can tell we're trying not to focus our reunion around food...like the past ones haha) at the Brigham Young Memorial Park where we split up into our teams for the Picture Scavenger Hunt.
After splitting up and being given our clues and pictures we had to find we split. It was so much fun trying to find the small and simple things yet very important and meaningful to the church just in the vicinity of temple square. It was fun to watch those so competitive and determined to find each clue....and then there were those that were just walking around careless.....making conversation with the sister missionaries or just not participating... glad my team beat em!! haha...
After the scavenger hunt we all met up and watched the Joseph Smith movie about the restoration of the gospel. I love that movie and cry every time... haha.
it took to long to get this many people together so we left out a ton... lol |
We then had lunch at
right there on 4th South and split. Free time til the dance that night. With FOOTBALL in full effect the dress code for that night was SPORTS. Everyone had to wear their all time favorite sports team. That was a hard decision for me because I absolutely LOVE the Steelers and the Lakers. I knew Frankie would be all decked out in Steelers so i went with the 16 time basketball champions.... my Lakers!!! =) It was fun to see all the different variety of teams that night.Of course everyone made fun of the teams they didn't like if someone else was sportin their jersey. It was tons of fun.... =)
Saturday = GAME DAY!!
Full of different games from relays, to basketball, volleyball, dodge ball, and other games.
Thanks to the Kaufusis (Levenis kids) we had yummy fry bread for lunch.
Thanks to Kaulaves kids we had a table full of fun prizes and toys for the kids to make goody bags. =)
Thanks to the Talia'ulis (Tas kids) for setting up the DJ inside AND outside lol....
Thanks to Siones kids for all showing up and making it look like a Sione and Ika reunion hahaha. (That's my grandpa and most of us live here in Utah so we kind of dominated the reunion with our attendance).
And Thanks to the Takapus for making the effort to be here..most of them live in the Bay Area so it was so nice to get to know the ones that were here and have recently moved up here.
After games we had a sssccrrruummpscious dinner and then our talent show began...... ooooohhh deeeaaar...hahaha
Like I said in my earlier post, each family was given a different era. We (Siones posterity) got the 80's.
Frankie...doin' her famour BILLY JEAN |
....HEAD to TOE....IIII KNOW!!!... |
It was so fun to watch every family perform their era, from the 1950-2000's!! We ended the night with just dancing and hanging out.
What made this night even more sweet was that Utah defeated San Jose....okay they more like MURDERED San Jose!! =) Gotta love the Utes!! =)
Sunday was our Closing fireside. We had powerful testimonies from those who shared different legacies that our grandparents left behind and ones we can carry on. We had inspiring musical numbers by the Wolfgramm Sisters, Moleni Brother, Junior Maile, and more. And most importantly, we had yummy refreshments!!
This reunion was a BLAAAST!!! I loved every moment of it. I'm so grateful for the opportunity we had to gather as extended family and the time we spent to get to know each other better. I love that the gospel focuses so much on eternal families....just knowing I will be with these people, not just in this life but for ETERNITY brings so much comfort, peace and happiness!!!
LOVE YOU OLIVE FAMILY!!!
